Aurangabad Municipal Corporation

In the Indian state of Maharashtra, the city of Aurangabad is governed by the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The municipal corporation, which is led by a mayor and is made up of democratically elected members, is in charge of running the city’s public utilities, police, and other services. The company has elected positions filled by representatives from the major political parties in the state. Aurangabad is the home of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation.

The regional civil organization is the Urangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). There are nine different zones. The Municipal Council was founded in 1936, and its geographic area was approximately 54.5 km2. Since 8 December 1982, it has had the status of a Municipal Corporation. At the same time, it has expanded its boundaries by adding 18 outlying settlements, bringing the total area under its authority to 138.5 km2.

Each of the city’s 115 electoral wards, known as Prabhag, is represented by a Corporator who is chosen by the residents of that ward. There are two committees: the General Body and the Standing Committee, which are respectively led by the Mayor and the chairman. Basic utilities including drinking water, drainage systems, roads, street lights, medical facilities, elementary schools, etc. are the responsibility of AMC. Citizens are required to pay urban taxes, which are how AMC gets its money. The Municipal Commissioner, an I.A.S. Officer, is in charge of running things, with the help of other officials from other departments.
