About Company

CSL

The largest shipbuilding and maintenance facility in India is Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL). It is one among a number of maritime-related facilities in Kerala, India’s port city of Kochi. The shipyard offers a variety of services, including the construction of double-hulled oil tankers and platform supply boats. For the Indian Navy, it constructed the first indigenous aircraft carrier, the INS Vikrant. The business is a Miniratna.

The first phase of facilities at Cochin Shipyard, a government-owned business, went online in 1982 after being formed in 1972.

The Indian government announced intentions to sell off assets in August 2012 in order to earn $15 billion through an IPO at the conclusion of the fiscal year for more expansion. On November 18, 2015, the government made the final decision about the share sale. The government will sell 33.9 million shares of which it now owns 113,000, with the remaining shares being new equity. But this didn’t happen until the company’s initial public offering (IPO) and listing of its shares on the BSE and NSE in August 2017.
